Well begun is half done
Onboarding is defined as the process that begins at the end of the recruitment process, i.e. when new recruits have to be put in a position to start their new job. Onboarding includes all the training activities that provide the new colleague with the skills and knowledge typical of the company culture, as well as activities related to bureaucratic aspects, the provision of equipment and materials and much more.
The importance of onboarding management is often underestimated, limiting attention to the obvious and fundamental aspects. In fact, several studies underline how a good onboarding phase leads to greater employee satisfaction, sense of belonging to the company and retention (possibility to stay in the company longer). A good onboarding should take into account not only the immediate needs, but also to increase satisfaction and productivity in the medium term. Conversely, poorly managed onboarding results in significant costs for the company in terms of lower productivity, greater dissatisfaction and lower retention.
Good onboarding requires good planning. It is necessary to examine, and if possible standardize, various aspects such as duration, activities, personnel involved, as well as the method of measuring the effectiveness of onboarding itself. Moreover, a good onboarding procedure does not always ensure good execution. In fact, without automation tools it can be difficult and laborious for the staff involved to follow the different onboarding steps for each new employee, especially if the period in which they take place is long.
Automation at the service of new recruits
HR-Assistant allows you to manage the onboarding of new hires. It has a dedicated module, integrated with the system scheduler and configurable. You can freely decide which are the steps of the process. For each step you can define the person responsible (as HR or a specific employee) and the deadline, from a few days to several months after hiring. In this way we assist you in the creation of a virtual checklist to follow the whole process.
Thanks to the integration with the scheduler, you can automatically notify those responsible for the activities to be carried out at the right time. HR can monitor the entire process, quickly checking for any steps that have not yet been taken or are overdue. You can also keep track of status, organize tasks by category, etc.
Don’t limit yourself to the bare essentials. Think about the employee’s path even months after hiring, and use the onboarding management software to organize training courses, skills assessment sessions, etc.. In this way the satisfaction of your employees will continue to grow over time, and with it productivity.
